- Eva Visperas

ASINGAN, Pangasinan – A police officer assigned in this town has returned to its owner a bag containing several pieces of jewelry worth around P3 million and P200,000 in cash, which was left in a restaurant in Rosales town.

Cpl. Marold Cabrera, 30, was honored for his honesty during a virtual flag-raising ceremony held at the provincial police headquarters in Lingayen on Monday.

Cabrera said the owner of the bag was with a group of people who left while he was having a late lunch on Sept. 18.

He said he followed the vehicle of the owner of the bag and managed to catch up with them somewhere in Tarlac.

Cabrera said he was surprised to get a call from Camp Crame informing him about his good deed.

“To be honest, I also thought about my debts, the things I wanted to buy, like a motorcycle. But money can be gone easily, but the Lord will not be happy if I did otherwise,” Cabrera said.

He said he also wanted to set a good example to his children, aged 10, three and four months.
