38 songs for my 38 years in the business

-

1. One Day in Your Life (The first song I ever learned and sang all the way through start to finish. This song is what got me interested to sing.) 2. Holiday (My very first recording with Vicor.) 3. Be My Lady (My first time to feel what a hit song felt like. My biggest hit to date.)

4. The Greatest Love of All (My winning song in my very first and only singing contest in 1981 in California, USA, where I was crowned the Champion of Champions over 4,000 plus contestants. We didn’t have social media or reality talent shows on television like they do today so this was a big deal for me. It was the song my dad, Bert Nievera, trained me with for this competition.)

5. Chasing Time (A song Louie Ocampo and I wrote to tell the world about how fast time flies when you are having fun and how slow time doesn’t fly when you are not. Talks about my race with time and career.)

6. What’s on the Other Side (A song Louie and I wrote during the days I hated myself and was unhappy being called the Concert King and just wanted to know what life would be like as someone in the audience...on the other side.)

7. Miracle (A song I recorded during my first Vicor days the moment my first son, Robin, was born.)

8. I’ll Be There For You (A song Louie Ocampo and I coincidentally wrote for our children on the same day at the same time. For Robin and Ram.)

9. Magic (A song Marvin Querido and I wrote the day I found out my son Santino was on the spectrum.)

10. We Were Meant to Be (A song I wrote with Lorrie Ilustre which celebrates the feeling of when families blend.)

11. I SING (A song written by a good friend of mine named Clint Holmes who happens to be one of the best performers I have ever seen on the Las Vegas strip. It’s a song that tells the world why we do what we do as singers.)

12. The Christmas Song (The Johnny Mathis version. It’s the song that immediately puts me in a Christmas mood any time of year. It also was the last song I sang with my father before he passed.)

13. This is the Moment (This is the song that best describes my every moment when I am on stage.)

14. Buhay Mo Buhay Ko (A new song written by Homer Flores and Alvina Sy to honor the frontliners all over the Philippines. I was honored when they chose me to sing it.)

15. You Are My Life (An English version of song No. 14 which I wrote using their melody to honor the frontliners all over the world.) 16. Forever in Your Eyes (A song I wrote for my love Anj.) 17. Never Said Goodbye (A song I wrote with Homer during my days with PolyEast Records that tells the story of my father and mother’s divorce and what it did to me.)

18. Go the Distance (A song that best describes how we should attack every challenge. A song that best describes what a frontliner does for our safety. I hope one day someone will describe me and my journey with this song, too.) 19. Leaves (A Ben&Ben hit that soothes my soul.) 20. Unchained Melody (My favorite undying love song.) 21. Pag Uwi (Then winning song at the 18th Metropop written by Louie and Joey Ayala. It’s a perfect homecoming song that best describes the struggles our OFWs go through on a daily basis.)

22. Footloose (It’s the song I have the most fun singing and, on a private note, that was the song playing on my iPod the moment Santino came out into the world right there in the delivery room.)

23. How Do You Keep the Music Playing (A beautiful song that truly asks an important question in any and every relationship. I also had the opportunity to sing this song more than once with Patti Austin herself.)

24. Alone Again Naturally (An old song my grandfather, Capt. Ramon Razon, always wanted me to sing.)

25. The Prayer (One of the most beautiful songs ever written.)

26. You Are My Song (A song I consider my song for all those who have held my hand throughout my 38-year journey.)

27. What a Wonderful World (My go-to song when it’s time for a feel-good moment.) 28. Smile (Tells the story of my heart.) 29. Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin (My first try at Tagalog.) 30. Nasaan Ka Man (This song makes me cry.) 31. One Voice (My moment singing back-up for Barry Manilow.)

32. Feelings (The song I was discovered singing...in the shower in high school!) 33. Ikaw (One of Louie’s best.) 34. In Christ Alone (A perfect song.) 35. I Love You More Today Than Yesterday (My go-to song No. 2.)

36. It Might Be You (The song that brings back the ‘80s memories for me.)

37. This is My Life (A song my father used to sing that still makes my hair stand.)

38. Say That You Love Me (A song I still look forward to singing.)
