ATN to participate in govt’s infra program

- By IRIS GONZALES

ATN Holdings, a listed diversified group, is participating in the government’s Build Build Build program, particularly through the NorthSouth Commuter Railway project.

ATN will supply rock aggregates for the project to be used as construction materials. Supply will be processed in ATN’s rock-extraction facilities, built on a 254-hectare privately owned property in Rodriguez, Rizal featuring a state-of-the art rock crushing plant with a capacity of 500 tons per hour.

ATN started the delivery of the initial rock aggregates requirements in September.

The North-South Commuter Railway is a 148-kilometer railway flagship project that will connect New Clark City to Calamba, Laguna and is envisioned to carry 350,000 passengers daily.

Proponents of the first phase of the project are Consunjiowned quadruple A- rated contractor D.M. Consunji Inc. and Japan’s Taisei Corp.

Phase 1 covers the Tutuban-Malolos segment, which will stretch for 38-kilometers, including six stations and a depot to be located in Valenzuela City.

ATN Holdings chairman and CEO Arsenio Ng said the company is proud to participate in the government’s project.

“ATN is fully committed to the government’s BBB program and shares in its vision to prioritize infrastructure as the centerpiece of our economic recovery and massive job creation stimulus amidst the COVID-19 pandemic,” Ng said.

Last September, ATN commenced delivery of rock aggregates to the project. It also previously indicated rock reserves of around 65 million tons, equivalent to an estimated accreted value of P65 billion.

To date, it has an existing inventory of at least one million tons of high-grade rock aggregates for future deployment.

“We are thrilled to be in a unique position to seize multiyear continuing opportunities in the bullish infrastructure sector given the massive size of our strategic stockpile and high-quality rock deposits,” Ng said.

ATN is also in discussions with different public and private sector proponents for rock supply arrangements in largescale infrastructure development as key to nation building.
