Citi customers receive free COVID-19 life insurance

Citi Philippine­s provides free BPLAC COVID-19 life insurance coverage amounting to P200,000 to almost 70,000 customers, without any need for them to enroll or register. Citibank and BPI-Philam Assurance Corp. (BPLAC) has given free COVID-19 life insurance coverage to all checking and savings bank account holders, including their joint account holders, as well as to Citibank credit cardholder­s with active BPLAC insurance policies.

This new benefit is given for free and qualified customers have automatica­lly received via email the COVID-19 Life Insurance Coverage policy details which is effective for a period of 90 days from Oct. 16 until Jan. 13, 2021.

“We understand that many Filipinos are facing uncertaint­y in these challengin­g times. We are committed to support our customers at every step of the way, by providing them life, health, and financial protection when they most need it,” said Citi Philippine­s consumer bank head Manoj Varma.

BPLAC chief executive officer Surendra Menon said: “In this most trying of times, we need to provide our customers with the care and protection they and their families must have. We remain committed to being there for them no matter what, and, right now, that commitment has never been more important.”

Under the policy, BPLAC will cover confirmed COVID-19 deaths with a P200,000 death benefit. For current BPLAC policy owners, this is an additional P200,000 on top of their existing plan’s benefits.
