Aside from business opportunities, visitors can expect meaningful and helpful talks from industry experts. Topics include trends on online reselling and community marketing, best practices in franchising and increasing franchise profits, business tech tools and solutions in the new normal, and tips on how to register your business online.

“Despite the more relaxed quarantine rules, we are encouraging everyone to keep safe by avoiding physical crowds. BUYanihan is a multi- organization resellers program that enables everyone to do their annual Christmas trade,” says Lucien Dy Tioco, EVP of The Philippine STAR, one of the event partners.

“The STAR is one with the MSMEs during this pandemic. By organizing this BUYanihan Resellers’ Virtual Trade Expo, we also encourage consumers to patronize Filipino products as we enter the Christmas season.”

Reselling immediately came into everyone’s attention when the pandemic hit and lockdowns happened. Many lost their jobs or experienced reduced earnings. These people opted prompting them to resell in order to survive.

“A lot of our kababayans now consider reselling as their source of livelihood. Franchising, too, was greatly affected as majority of franchised businesses are located in commercial spaces that were closed down. But franchising resurfaced when our modern heroes, the OFWs, came home looking for alternative income, and soon ventured out into franchising,” he caps.

The BUYanihan Resellers’ Virtual Trade Expo 2020 is a joint effort of the Association of Filipino Franchisers Inc., Department of Trade and Industry, JCI Makati, Go Negosyo, Philippine Commission on Women, Philippine Marketing Association, Talk Shop Asia and Women’s Business Council in partnership with PLDT Home Biz and The Philippine STAR. The event is sponsored by Shell Philippines and Villar SIPAG Foundation.
