Isabela cop held for extortion

BAGUIO CITY – A police officer was arrested for alleged extortion in Santiago City, Isabela on Thursday.

M/Sgt. Arthur Salvador, 47, of the Echague police was collared in the parking lot of a mall after allegedly receiving money from Nimfa Remigio in exchange for the dropping of the estafa charges filed against her. Remigio claimed Salvador demanded P1.2 million. Personnel of the Cagayan Valley Integrity Monitoring Enforcemen­t Team, Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group office in Santiago and local police conducted the operation.

“We will be relentless in cleansing our ranks. Scalawags have no place in the organizati­on, ” Isabela police director Col. James Cipriano said.
