What Jace Roque thinks about Forever

Jace Roque’s latest single, Forever, captures his thoughts about, what else, believing in forever. The artist’s take on a love that lasts is loud and clear. The song’s music video is now out.
“All of my (songs are and my) music is autobiographical,” said the EDM and independent singer of his source of inspiration during a virtual presscon. “It is always about my personal life.” Although his friends’ words about his relationship with a former girlfriend formed the basis for Forever, Jace shared that “forever is not just something you dream of or aspire for. If you want to be with each other until the end, you have to really work hard (for it). It (The song) has simple and straightforward lyrics (with a message) that if you think there’s forever, I think it is never enough. It has become the hook of the song.”
Complementing the theme of Forever was the music video’s location, SilverMoon Studio, where wedding and prenup shoots are held. “Dun naman nag-sa- start yung forever natin sa prenup studio,” said Jace. “It is the first step of a married couple’s journey to forever. For me, the studio is the perfect choice. It’s a location that has many backgrounds and sets, the feel is very romantic.”
As for the genre of songs he has made, Jace said that most were set in danceable music. However, in Forever, he wanted it to be multigenre. “There’s the flavor of pop, dance, Latin, R&B and reggae that I think (listeners) will like,” he added. “This is my first TagalogEnglish single. It took me a long time to release a Tagalog song. I wanted it to be relatable in terms of lyrics and sounds.”
Forever is one of the tracks well-kept in Jace’s trove. “I have two albums worth of songs,” said he, who intends to release them one at a time. It gives fans and the listening public the space and time to enjoy his every musical endeavor. Jace started to release original songs in 2017 and saw the fruits of his labor in 2019 when his tunes became hits. “I’m very thankful,” he said, “and my formula has always been the authenticity of my music, what I’m writing is exactly what I’m feeling, is exactly what I felt before and my connection with the song is always deeply personal.” Aside from the acoustic version of Forever, Jace shared that the song has stripped-down and pure dance versions.
As an independent artist, Jace wants to establish his music first so that it can stand on its own. “I also want my songs to have their own weight (or carry weight) that they are well-received only because of the basis na maganda (ang mga ito). In the future, I want to collaborate with different artists.” SB19, Nadine Lustre, James Reid and Sam Concepcion are part of his collab list.
