Only 19% of Pinoys willing to get vaccinated – OCTA
Ahead of the rollout of a vaccination program, a new survey conducted by OCTA Research showed that only one in every five Filipinos is willing to get a vaccine against COVID-19.
The Tugon ng Masa survey, conducted from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1 with the results released yesterday, showed that only 19 percent of 1,200 respondents were willing to get inoculated even if a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19 becomes available.
Forty-six percent said they do not want to be vaccinated, while 31 percent were undecided.
Across geographic areas, willingness to get a vaccine is highest among respondents from Mindanao at 26 percent, followed by those in Metro Manila (25 percent), Visayas (20 percent) and the rest of Luzon (14 percent).
The number of those not inclined to get inoculated is highest in balance Luzon and the Visayas at 47 percent each, followed by Metro Manila and Mindanao that both had 43 percent.
In terms of socio-economic classes, willingness to get a vaccine is highest among respondents from Class ABC and E at 23 percent, followed by those in Class D at 18 percent.
Unwillingness to get a vaccine is also high among respondents from Class D at 46 percent, closely followed by those in Class ABC at 45 percent and Class E at 44 percent.
Among those unwilling to get vaccinated, 73 percent said their primary concern is the safety of the vaccines.
Almost a third or 29 percent of the respondents also said that they do not want to be vaccinated because they are not sure if it would be effective.
