Filipino Chinese entrepreneurs support sustainable, inclusive economic growth
THROUGHOUT its history, here are some of the diverse advocacies of the FFCCCII based on our research and some casual interviews:
1 SUSTAINABLE, INCLUSIVE ECONOMIC GROWTH
From Aparri to Tawi-Tawi, the over 170 Filipino Chinese chambers and other trade associations under the FFCCCII support economic development.
2 HELP BUILD GLOBALLY-COMPETITIVE PHILIPPINE ECONOMY
In terms of exports, technologies, productivity, efficiencies, costs of doing business, red-tape and other yardsticks, the Philippine economy should ideally be globally competitive.
3 ENCOURAGE MANUFACTURING
“Buy Pinoy” is one of the projects of FFCCCII, hoping to encourage the Filipino consumers nationwide to buy more Philippine-made products and boost our local industries.
4 SUPPORT FARMERS, FISHERMEN & FOOD SECURITY
FFCCCII led by President Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong are staunch supporters of rural farmers and fishermen. When Mindoro fishermen’s boat was accidentally hit by a Chinese vessel, FFCCCII extended humanitarian assistance in cash donations to rehabilitate the boat plus donated free rice and a public school. Dr. Lim is also hybrid rice technology pioneer to help Filipino rice farmers.
5 PROMOTE BETTER EDUCATION
FFCCCII has donated thousands of public schoolbuildings under its “Operation Barrio Schools”, because Filipino Chinese entrepreneurs believe education can liberate people from poverty and social injustices.
6 STRENGTHEN ECONOMIC COOPERATION, BOOST TRADE WITH ALL COUNTRIES
FFCCCII hopes the Philippines can tap vast opportunities of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) free trade bloc, China’s “Belt & Road Initiative” (BRI) and others.
7 SUPPORT SOCIO-CIVIC AND CULTURAL PROGRESS
Although business and economics are the top priorities of FFCCCII, it also supports socio-civic and cultural causes.
8 UPHOLD SOCIAL HARMONY
Entrepreneurs believe dynamic economic development can only happen in a country with social stability and harmony.
