DOLE distributes wages to Lumad recipients under Tupad program
LABOR Secretary Silvestre Bello III led the distribution of wages to Lumad recipients from Floridablanca, Pampanga under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (Tupad) program.
Pampanga Rep. and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Governor Dennis Garcia Pineda, and Vice Governor Lilia Pineda welcomed Bello and the DOLE team to the payout ceremony, which was streamed live. DOLE released P10 million for the program in Pampanga.
LUMADS FROM BARANGAY NABUKLOD RECEIVE WAGES
The Lumads are part of the 150 Indigenous Peoples who received their emergency employment wages from DOLE. Tupad provides assistance to displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers through emergency employment wages.
“As long as DOLE has the resources to give to our needy workers, we’ll be there to help,” Bello said, regarding Tupad as the manifestation of the state’s support for Filipino workers who lost their livelihoods due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the beneficiaries, 190 were from Pilar while 410 were from Orion.
DOLE’S CONTINUED EFFORTS
From there, Bello continued on to the City of Balanga in Bataan to award grants to five projects under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) and distributed certificates of eligibility for 13 applicants to the program.
While he was there, he visited the National Government Center at the Atrium building where a new DOLE office is set to be constructed.
Bello also awarded Safety Seals to eight locators in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) to recognize their compliance to safety and health protocols in the workplace.
“I hope these recognitions would inspire other locators in FAB to follow health and safety standards to protect their employees in workplaces,” he declared.
