-

Sen. Bong Go has urged residents of Bayambang town in Pangasinan to exercise extra precautionary measures following the recent confirmation of local transmission of the Delta variant of COVID in the country.

Go reminded everyone to be more careful to avoid the risk of contracting and infecting their more vulnerable loved ones with the more virulent strain.

He urged everyone to avoid uneccessary travels and continue adhering to health protocols and community quarantine guidelines.

Go’s staff distributed meals, vitamins, masks and face shields to 6,532 residents at the Bayambang municipal gymnasium from July 22 to 23.

The residents consisted of indigent senior citizens, persons with disabilities, street vendors, and tricycle drivers and operators

Select beneficiaries received new pairs of shoes while others were given bicycles, a popular alternative commuting method during the pandemic.

Some received computer tablets for their children online learning.

To cushion the negative impacts of the pandemic, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also gave away financial assistance under its assistance to individuals in crisis situation program.

To ensure their health and well-being, Go offered further assistance to any beneficiary in need of medical care and advised them to seek the services of the Malasakit Center at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which streamlines the provision of medical assistance by bringing together the relevant government agencies under one roof such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Go thanked local officials for their efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID in their communities.

Among those present during the activity were House Deputy Speaker and Rep. Baby Arenas, Rep. Ramon Guico III, Gov. Amado Espino III, Vice Gov. Mark Lambino, board members Angel Baniqued Jr. And Vici Ventanilla, Mayor Cesar Quiambao and Vice Mayor Raul Sabangan.
