Peugeot Philippines, now under the sole distributorship of Astara, is reinforcing its refreshed lineup in the country in the form of the 2008 compact SUV. The company has started the year strong with a strong 89 percent year-over-year sales increase in Q1 2022.

The 2022 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) stands as the 2008’s launchpad, standing side-byside with the previously introduced new models such as the 3008 compact SUV, the 5008 7-seater midsize SUV, and the Traveller Premium people hauler.

The new Peugeot 2008 is a subcompact crossover, the fourth model to join the French marque’s reinvigorated lineup. It stands as the entry-level Peugeot (for now), offering Filipinos a taste of France with each drive.

All three SUVs give Filipinos access to the unmatched experience that our Peugeot global SUVs offer, in three size options that meet the varying needs and lifestyles of our customers,” said Maricar Parco, Brand Head, Peugeot Philippines.

The 2008 follows the design ethos

of its bigger brothers. Now on its second generation, the stylish SUV comes with an imposing appeal up front, spearheaded by the pair of fang-like daytime running lights that work in tandem with the signature three-claw illumination and full LED headlamps.

This design execution is continued at the rear end. A set of 17-inch Black Onyx & Diamond Cut alloy wheels complete the look. In terms of dimensions, the 2008 is slightly bigger than the previous generation, including the wheelbase.

Inside the 2008 you’ll find Peugeot’s i-Cockpit that boasts “a flawless ergonomics around the driver for an intuitive driving experience.” It has a compact steering wheel, a 7-inch HD infotainment system, and a 3D heads-up instrument cluster.

The 2008 comes with a host of driver-aids and safety features, such as Visiopark 1 180° rear view camera, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Active Safety Brake. Other standard safety features are six SRS Airbags, Hill Start Assist, and Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). It’s also equipped with conveniences such as Advanced Keyless Entry (with Auto-Unlock & Walk Away Lock), front & rear parking sensors, rear camera, roof rails and electric foldable side mirrors.

Assembled in Malaysia, the Peugeot 2008 is powered by a turbocharged 1.2L 3-cylinder PureTech gasoline engine that makes 130hp and 230Nm of torque. This mill is mated to a 6-speed automatic.

The new Peugeot 2008 SUV is available in four colors: Amazonite Grey, Pearl White, Nera Black, and Fusion Orange, which is a model-exclusive color. It comes with a 3-year/100,000-km manufacturer’s warranty, as well as 10,000-km mileage interval checkups.
