Capital A’s airasia Super App is eyeing to introduce its ride hailing platform in the Philippines by the third quarter.

The ride hailing platform called airasia ride was first launched in Malaysia in August last year as part of Capital A’s continuous digital transformation journey.

Amanda Woo, CEO of airasia Super App, said airasia ride completed approximately 500,000 bookings during the first quarter, and in less than one year of operation, has reached one million completed rides.

The new ride hailing platform has expanded to 10 cities across Malaysia in just eight months of operation.

“In the second quarter, the airasia ride service will be introduced in Thailand and also targets to launch in Indonesia and the Philippines by the third quarter of the year,” Woo said.

Capital A, formerly known as the AirAsia Group, officially launched the airasia Super App in the Philippines on April 6 with the aim of further stimulating the country’s strong e-commerce market.

Aside from the Philippines, the airasia Super App also operates in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

The platform offers flight and hotel bookings, e-commerce, food and parcel delivery, ride-hailing, financial and health services, on-demand education and more, anchored by an integrated rewards program and mobile wallet.

Capital A is confident that the airasia Super App will also perform well in the Philippines as the country gears for its post-pandemic recovery.

“This year commenced with numerous positive developments in our key ASEAN countries and supporting campaigns launched by airasia Super App gave impetus to the travel, tourism and the e-commerce markets,” Woo said.

“We are enthusiastic about the positive results and remain confident in the outlook where we see total users will continue to grow on the back of the airline recovery, more product launches along with continued expansion in more Asean cities,” she said.
