Converge: The mission continues
Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s meteoric growth appears to be far from slowing down, as the company continues to step on the gas pedal to bring fiber connectivity nationwide. Converge has been rising as among the topof-mind brands for home broadband among Filipinos prior to the pandemic, but its popularity increased even more so during the past two years.
The company’s rapid growth took shape at the height of the pandemic as it answered to consumers’ increased demand for high-speed internet connection for remote work, online education, and entertainment during a time of community quarantines.
With demand for reliable and consistent internet still increasing, the mission continues for the company to deliver fast and reliable fixed broadband connectivity to more homes across the country.
“We will continue to pursue our mission of bringing world-class connectivity to Filipinos and giving them the broadband connection they deserve,” Converge CEO and co-founder Dennis Anthony Uy said.
For Uy, digital access is no longer a privilege of the few, but a right of everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status. This is why Converge has been relentless in its expansion efforts, rolling out more fiber optic networks to cover more unserved and underserved areas.
This year, its fiber network is being extended to more cities and municipalities in Visayas and Mindanao.
Converge to date has over 500,000 kilometers of total fiber assets serving 1.8 million subscribers nationwide. With just a service age of two years, its fiber network is not only one of the most extensive, but is also the newest in the industry, and powered by the most modern technology.
As of end March, its network has reached more than 12.2 million homes, with a household coverage of 47.3 percent.
Converge aims to reach its accelerated target of covering approximately 55 percent of households in the Philippines by next year as it continues its expansion.
Aside from upgrading and expanding its infrastructure in the country, Converge has also been undertaking efforts to augment its international network capacity.
Last year, Converge signed with Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation’s Bifrost Cable System, a submarine cable system that can directly connect Asia to the west coast of North America.
The company was granted an indefeasible right of use for one fiber pair on Bifrost’s main trunk, as well as a cable landing station in Davao.
Aside from this investment, Converge also recently joined the consortium behind the Southeast Asia Hainan-Hong Kong Express Cable System (SEA-H2X) submarine cable system.
The ICT company owns 25 percent of the cable system, alongside China Mobile International Ltd., China Unicom Global, and PPTEL SEA H2X Sdn. Bhd.
Through the company’s participation in these international infrastructures, Converge can increase its own infrastructure capacities, which will then lead to increased bandwidth for all its subscribers, both residential and enterprise.
As Converge expands its presence nationwide and the number of its residential customers grows, the company also continues to enhance its customer experience initiatives and strengthen its presence to make its services more accessible and visible.
Since 2020, the company has tripled its customer service teams and embarked on a multi-million digital transformation project to refine its processes and make the customer journey as seamless and convenient as possible.
Converge has also teamed up with over 1,000 partner outlets to amplify the company’s presence and accessibility in different areas. Through these partner outlets, customers will be able to conveniently pay their bills or apply for a new line.
With its various initiatives to improve the quality of the Filipino’s digital experience in pursuit of its goal to serve the underserved and unserved areas of the country, Converge has earned various recognition from local and international institutions.
“We will continue on to reach more Filipinos and give them world class broadband connectivity. This is our lifelong promise and mission,” Uy assured.
