New tracks about young love, dreams and heartbreak from female artists

-

Some of the latest music releases are odes to youthful dreams, as well as new and lost love, from the lens and voices of female artists. A former child star, an overseas Filipino singer, a P-pop group and a band member who has gone solo have recently dropped singles that you may want to add to your playlist this week.

Krystal Brimner’s Young

Former child star Krystal Brimner has a message to fellow young people who are still figuring out who they are in her sophomore single Young.

The dance-pop song, composed by fellow Kapamilya talent SAB and produced by Star Pop label head Rox Santos, captures the highs and lows of being young, especially in the age of social media, where many aspire to live up to society’s standards without much room for mistakes.

“It reminds us of the beauty of one’s youth, the discovery and learning from our experiences, and most of all the joy in figuring out who we are or what we want to be,” Krystal said.

She debuted the song live on PIE Channel, where she showed how much she has grown as a performer.

This growth, however, is not so surprising for those who have followed Krystal since she entered showbiz at four years old.

At nine years old, Krystal won Best Child Performer at the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival for starring in the critically-acclaimed Honor Thy Father, where she even went viral for shaving her head as part of her role. Not long after, she landed the titular character in the Resorts World Manila production of the musical Annie.

The budding singer-actress was also part of a trio with AC Bonifacio and Sheena Belarmino called A.S.K., who regularly performed in ASAP and other Kapamilya shows. Now 15, Krystal has recently ventured into recording, starting off with her debut single Let Me Be Me.

Krystal’s followup song is available on various digital music services.

Caren Tevanny’s

Deliverance

One of Curve Entertainment’s newest music releases this month is courtesy of former General Luna lead guitarist Caren Tevanny.

Titled Deliverance, this new single by Caren is her first song in over a year. The emotionally-driven tune, written by the musician herself and produced by Vince Lucero, is about pursuing your dreams no matter what and setting yourself free from fear and insecurity.

“Even if people turn you down, even if you fall a thousand times, you will stand and will continue to focus on doing the best that you can,” Caren said.

Her single is now available for streaming and download on all digital platforms worldwide. It is exclusively distributed by Curve Entertainment, Inc.

Jos Garcia’s Namimiss Ko Na

After serving up the jazzy Nagpapanggap in 2020, Jos Garcia is back with a song reminiscent of her signature tune Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin, which has since racked up over 50 millions views online.

Titled Namimiss Ko Na by Amando Araneta Jr., her latest release has all the makings of a teleserye theme song with its classical OPM arrangement, heartfelt singing and message to resonate with anyone forever changed by love, even one that has gone south.

Interestingly, Amando is a construction worker who moonlights as a songwriter. Jos is open to giving new talents a break, despite having previously worked with the likes of Rey Valera who penned Nagpapanggap.

Jos, who comes from a family of musicians, started singing when she was seven and has not looked back. The performer, whose Facebook fan page has over a million followers, has been based in Japan and has sung in various five-stars hotels in Osaka, Kyoto and just about everywhere else in the Kansai region. She’s the first Filipina to have performed in the Main Shows of Pacific Venus Cruises and be featured as performer at the Xavier Louis Vuitton Bar in Kyoto City. In her free time, Jos is active in Filipino communities’ various projects.

BINI’s Lagi

P-pop girl group BINI’s newest single Lagi is a perky love song that charted atop the iTunes Philippines chart and landed on various Spotify editorial playlists upon its release.

Lagi highlights all the magical and exciting feelings that the presence of a new lover brings to one’s life. A track with an addictive chorus and hook, Lagi was written and composed by Louie Canaria and arranged by Ramiru Mataro, with vocal production by ABSCBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

Meanwhile, BINI members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna and Sheena continue to flaunt their signature charm in the music video of Lagi, which was shot at the Dessert Museum in Pasay City, a fitting location for the vibrant vibe and lively emotions that the song brings. One of ABSCBN’s sibling P-pop groups with boy group BGYO, BINI has steadily grown to be the Philippines’ leading girl group only a year since debuting in 2021. Dubbed by fans as the “Nation’s Girl Group,” BINI has recently scored a feature in music and pop culture magazine Rolling Stone and a digital billboard in Times Square, New York as one the artists under Spotify’s 2022 RADAR program.

BINI is set to perform alongside BGYO and other P-pop groups at the Tugatog Filipino Music Festival on July 15 and at the Be You benefit concert on July 22 with K-pop girl group Red Velvet, both happening at the MOA Arena. Lagi is now streaming on various music platforms.
