- By IRIS GONZALES

Filipino-owned Asian conglomerate Jollibee Foods Corp. has expanded anew in China with the opening of its ninth Tim Ho Wan branch.

Jollibee Group CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong said the company is committed to continue expanding Tim Ho Wan in China.

“We are excited to continue growing the Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan in Mainland China. We are encouraged by the strong reception and continued patronage for our brands in this region,” Tanmantiong said.

The expansion is part of the Jollibee Group’s goal of being one of top five restaurant companies in the world.

Jollibee opened Tim Ho Wan’s first branch in Zhejiang province as part of the company’s aggressive expansion in overseas markets.

“Opening Tim Ho Wan in Hangzhou, one of China’s key cities, is instrumental to the expansion of the Tim Ho Wan brand and the growth of Jollibee Group in this part of the globe,” said Jollibee Foods Corp. China and Yonghe King president Louie Liu.

Liu said the company is committed to strengthening the expansion efforts for Tim Ho Wan.

“We target to open 100 restaurants within the next few years in China, which remains as one of Jollibee Group’s four pillar markets,” Liu said.

As of the end of the first quarter, the Jollibee Group had 468 stores in China, across the company’s Tim Ho Wan, Yonghe King, Hong Zhuang Yuan, and Dunkin’ brands.

The company opened its first Tim Ho Wan restaurant in Shanghai’s Jing’an District in September 2020, after the Jollibee Group entered into a joint venture agreement with the Tim Ho Wan Group to open and operate Tim Ho Wan restaurants in mainland China.
