Prices of diesel, kerosene decline; gas increases

- By RICHMOND MERCURIO

Prices of diesel and cooking gas continue to decline, while that of gasoline slightly increases effective today.

Oil companies, in separate advisories, yesterday said prices of diesel would drop by P0.60 per liter and kerosene by

P0.75, while gasoline would go up by P0.75.

Eastern Petroleum is providing a bigger rollback of P0.75 per liter for diesel.

The price adjustments take effect at 6 am today for most oil companies, as Caltex and Cleanfuel implemented adjustments starting at 12:01 a.m. and 8:01 a.m., respectively.

This would be the fifth consecutive weeks of decline for diesel prices, and the end of the three consecutive weeks of rollback of gasoline prices.

Oil firms last week slashed diesel prices by P1.85 per liter, gasoline by P0.40 per liter, and kerosene by P1.30 per liter.

These translate to year-todate upward adjustments of P18.90 per liter for gasoline, P32.95 per liter for diesel, and P28.05 per liter for kerosene.

Meanwhile, retailers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are also reducing prices of cooking gas for the fourth straight month.

Petron reduced yesterday LPG prices by P2.05 per kilogram and autoLPG prices by P1.15 per liter.

“These reflect the international contract price of LPG for the month of August,” it said.

Isla LPG Corp. said the price of its Solane-brand LPG would be slashed by P2.09 per kilogram – VAT inclusive – effective 6 a.m. today.

Prices of an 11-kilogram household LPG range from P840 to P1,027 based on the Department of Energy’s price monitoring in Metro Manila from July 1 to 13.
