Cebuana wins Binibini Int’l crown

A model and an interior design student from Cebu City was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Internatio­nal 2022 during the coronation night last Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

Nicole Borromeo will represent the Philippine­s in the Miss Internatio­nal 2023 competitio­n.

Aside from the major crown, Borromeo also bagged the Miss Careline award during the finals.

During the questionan­d-answer portion, the 21-year-old beauty queen was asked by actor Donny Pangilinan, “On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate yourself as a responsibl­e Filipino citizen and why?”

“As a responsibl­e Filipino citizen, I’d like to give myself a good 8, because I know that there is always room to improve. There’s so much I don’t know. There’s so much I’m willing to learn and I hope to do that with you,” Borromeo said.

The Bb. Pilipinas Internatio­nal 2022 winner is not new to pageantry, having won the Sinulog Festival Queen in 2019, Miss Teen Philippine­s 2019 second runner-up and Miss Millennial Philippine­s 2019.

Her role models include marine conservati­onist and co-founder of Save Philippine Seas Anna Oposa and interior designer Dianne Versoza.

Her interests include furniture refurbishi­ng, doit-yourself projects and photograph­y.

Other winners who bagged titles during the coronation night were Bb. Pilipinas Interconti­nental Gabrielle Camille Basiano of Eastern Samar, Bb. Pilipinas Globe Chelsea Fernandez of Tacloban City and Bb. Pilipinas Grand Internatio­nal Roberta Angela Tamondong of San Pablo, Laguna.

Heavy crowd favorite Herlene Budol of Angono, Rizal was announced first runner-up and “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyan­o” actress Stacey Daniella Gabriel of Cainta, Rizal was the second runner-up.

Rounding up the Top 12 were Karen Laurrie Mendoza of Iloilo City, Diana Mackey of Nueva Ecija, Yllana Marie Aduana of Laguna, Jasmine Omay of Tarlac, Annalena Lakrini of Bataan and Anna Carres De

Mesa of Batangas.

Budol received the most number of special awards, namely Binibining Pilipinas Shein, Miss Blackwater, Pizza Hut, Kumu, Silka, World Balance, Jag Queen and Manila Bulletin’s Readers’ Choice Award.

Basiano was awarded the Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown; Mendoza received the Binibining Most Diane Shampoo, Miss Kumu People’s Choice, Hello Glow; Tamondong was chosen Bb. Philippine Airlines and Miss Spotlight; and Fernandez was crowned Bb. Ever Bilena.

Completing the list of special awards were Graceilla Sheine Lehmann of Oriental Mindoro for Best in National Costume, Ma. Isabela David of Mexico, Pampanga (Binibining Talent); Yllana Marie Aduana of Laguna (Face of Binibini/ Miss Photogenic); Eiffel Rosalita of Catanduane­s (Binibining Friendship); Mackey (Miss Ever Organics); Ethel Abellanosa of La Union (Miss Kumu Questions) and Nyca Mae Bernardo (Miss Hya-Loo).

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Binibining Pilipinas-Miss Grand Internatio­nal 2016 Nicole Cordoves served as the main hosts of the evening with Miss Grand Internatio­nal 2020 1st runner-up Samantha Bernardo and actor Edward Barber as live chat hosts.

P-pop boy band SB19 and singer-actress Maymay Entrata performed on stage.

The panel of judges included Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s George Barcelon, Greek Ambassador Ioannis Pediotis, CNN Philippine­s senior news anchor Rico Hizon, Slay Model Management founder and director Cecillio Asuncion, Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis, Miss Internatio­nal 2018 1st Runner-up Maria Ahtisa Manalo, Miss Internatio­nal 2005 Precious Lara Quigaman; and actors Joshua Garcia and Jane de Leon.

Binibining Pilipinas Internatio­nal 2021 Hannah Arnold is set to compete in the internatio­nal stage this December in Japan for the 2022 edition.

The Miss Internatio­nal 2020 and 2021 pageants were postponed due to the COVID pandemic.
