DFA launches ‘islands Abridged’ video game
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) yesterday announced the launch of an online game, “Islands Abridged,” an interactive exploration of the Philippines, its people and how both have been shaped by its identity as an archipelagic and maritime nation.
In its Twitter account @DFAPHL, the DFA, through the Office of Maritime and Ocean Affairs (MOAO), in cooperation with the Office of Public and Cultural Diplomacy (OPCD), launched the online game “Islands Abridged” to close the celebration of Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month 2022 (MANA Mo 2022).
The Twitter post also had a one-minute and 33-second video teaser that allows users to explore the regions in the Philippines through a two-dimensional map that covers 300,000 square kilometers of the country’s territory and feature markers for capitals, provinces, natural wonders, well-known resorts and tourist destinations.
On its official website, the DFA said it launched the online game to close the celebration of MANA Mo 2022.
The DFA said “Islands Abridged,” developed by the Department’s OPCD principal assistant Marthy Angue, features a character that can explore the entire archipelago of the Philippines including its provinces, famous landmarks, destinations and natural wonders.
It aims to promote public understanding of the maritime and archipelagic nature of the Philippines.
“Try your hand at the ‘Islands Abridged’ game and see the compendium of MANA Mo 2022 activities of the whole foreign service, by visiting the MANA Mo website https://tinyurl.com/dfamanamo22,” the DFA said.
