Megaworld allots P20 B for new integrated casino resort
Andrew Tan-led Megaworld Corp. is spending P20 billion to develop a new resort with casino within the San Lazaro Tourism and Business Park in Manila.
The three-hectare Winford Resort, located beside the historic Chinatown, will feature a mix of residential condominiums, hotelsand commercial developments with a casino complex.
Wilson Sy, first vice president and head of sales and marketing at Megaworld Manila, said the project is part of the company’s efforts to help revive Manila.
“This commitment to revive the old beauty of Manila will be apparent in the designs of the commercial developments of this community. The beautiful architecture of the pre-war years will be seen in the Promenade, which is envisioned to become a major tourism destination in this side of Manila,” Sy said.
The new development is close to schools, hospitals and public transport such as the LRT.
According to Megworld, development will be inspired by Old Manila’ with structural designs reminiscent of the pre-war era.
The buildings will be characterized by rich aesthetics with intricate details of French Renaissance, neo-Classical and Art Deco architecture.
The development will also include the Promenade which will have walkways made of cobblestones, reminiscent of the pavements used during the Hispanic era.
Winford Resort can be accessed via Felix Huertas Road in Sta. Cruz district.
It is surrounded by major educational institutions such as the University of Sto. Tomas, Far Eastern University, San Beda University, University of the East, Centro Escolar University and other colleges and universities in the popular university belt.
Part of the development is a new residential condominium tower, the 17-story One Crown Suites.
Megaworld expects to generate P3 billion in sales from the project, which is targeted for completion in 2028.
One Crown Suites will have 389 units ranging from studio with balcony, one-bedroom with balcony and two-bedroom with balcony.
Amenities include a swimming pool and kiddie pool with its own pool deck and outdoor shower area, study room, fitness center, playground and outdoor lounge and function room with pantry and storage.
Other amenities are sauna and massage room, private dining area, day care center, game room, roof deck garden and lounge area as well as a co-Working Space.
There will also be a covered badminton court, basketball half court, and an outdoor fitness area.
“This new residential development is perfect for students as well as young professionals like doctors, nurses, and even teachers who study or work around the area. This location is a rising lifestyle district in the City of Manila,” said Sy.
