Four foreigners were arrested on Thursday in connection with the kidnap and murder of a Filipino-Chinese businessman in Quezon City last week.

The police Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) said businessman Mario Sy Uy was taken in Quezon City on March 18.

The victim was brought to a subdivision in Barangay Navarro in Gen. Trias, Cavite, where he was tortured, according to Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission executive director Gilbert Cruz.

“The torturing was documented and then sent to the family,” Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo of the AKG said, ABS-CBN reported. He added that Uy’s family sent his kidnappers a total of nearly P1 million via two banks and through a mobile wallet app.

Uy’s body was found by students in a grassy area of the Saddle and Leisure Park in Tanza, Cavite on March 22, said Col. Christopher Olazo, Cavite police chief.

Chinese Bei Huimin, 30; Jielong Shen, 26, and Sun XiaoHui, 26, were arrested in Parañaque after they withdrew the ransom money deposited in their bank accounts.

Vietnamese Hong Puc Le, 33, was arrested at a mall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig after his bank account was used to receive the P560,000 ransom deposited by the victim’s family, the AKG said.

The suspects and the items confiscated from them were brought to the AKG headquarters for proper disposition.

The four foreigners face charges of kidnapping for ransom and serious illegal detention with murder, Cruz said.

“The arrest of these individuals is an important step forward in our efforts to dismantle their group and protect our communities. Rest assured that justice will spring out and we will get to the bottom of this,” AKG director Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Castil Jr. said.
