GLAIZA AND MIKAEL TEASE ‘MORE CREATIVE’ CHALLENGES IN ‘RUNNING MAN PHILIPPINES’ S2

- By JERRY DONATO

GLAIZA DE CASTRO AND Mikael Daez are back on that “Running Man Philippines” road to commence and complete fun and challenging missions, and the game called nametag ripping in its Season 2.

Premiering tonight at 7:15, the Kapuso adaptation of the South Korean reality-game show also features Angel Guardian, Buboy Villar, Lexi Gonzales, Kokoy de Santos, and Miguel Tanfelix as runners.

Glaiza and Mikael generously gave everyone a sneak peek into what could transpire in the weekend program’s latest chapter.

“It’s our friendship, and in the bus scene, it has been shown,” said Mikael in a recent press conference that was also graced by Glaiza and the rest of the celebrity runners. “I’m very excited, parang patikim pa lang yun (and it seems like a preview of what’s in store for the viewers). I think (it plays a big role) in the development of the story, the missions, and how the viewers will enjoy ‘Running Man (Philippines) Season 2.’”

For Glaiza, the viewers will also get to know more about the runners this time around.

“I think it will surprise them, and at the same time, it will seem to (help) them discover our individual strengths and characteristics. (These are traits) that we don’t usually show. People normally see us acting or hosting,” shared she, adding that part of it is revealing the other sides of them.

Starring in the first and second seasons of “Running Man Philippines” has allowed Glaiza to reflect on and appreciate the importance of having fun and living the moment.

“Masyado akong seryoso ‘pag dating sa trabaho (I’m really serious when it comes to work),” said she. “They (my fellow runners) know this. I would always tell them in season one that I would get rattled when I wasn’t pre

pared, like going to work.”

“Dahil sa ‘Running Man (Philippines),’ bin-reak niya yun (the show did help me break that habit),” added she, “I learned to just go with the flow. Since I was with (my fellow runners, most of the time), I began to loosen up and enjoy present moments, especially when we were together.”

So, Glaiza had the chance to take life lightly, forget momentarily some cares of the world, and enjoy, as one may put it.

“I think that’s what I want to share with everyone and hopefully, through watching ‘Running Man (Philippines),’ they will feel the closeness (and the camaraderie) that we’ve built,” said she. “Para sa akin, kapag pinapanood (nila) kami sana din maramdaman nila na ang saya pa lang maglaro at maging bata pa rin (For me, when they watch us, I hope they also feel the joy of simply playing and being childlike).”

Since “Running Man Philippines” Season 2 was shot early this year in South Korea, during the winter season, Mikael and Glaiza also shared about the challenges viewers can look forward to in the coming episodes.

“The challenges are more creative,” said Mikael. “Merong mas mahirap (there are more difficult ones), but I think what has left a mark on me is, they’re very creative and varied. There are physical challenges, there are mental challenges, (and) there are emotional challenges, that’s what I can only say before spoiling it.”

Glaiza also agreed with him by saying that the previous challenges were not repeated. “Parang hindi nauulit,” she remarked. “We were expecting that we would be asked to do the same missions. But we didn’t. Then, we’re used to, especially the fans of ‘Running Man Philippines,’ that in every episode, there’s nametag ripping. In Season 2, you’ll see a different nametag ripping. Mikael is right in saying that how the (segments for) missions were written and put together was very creative because we were really not prepared for anything.”

Glaiza shared that if there was one thing they could prepare for, it would be to brave the cold weather and not get sick because of it.

“Yun talaga yung iniisip namin kung papaano po-protektahan ang mga sarili namin, especially kapag gumagawa tayo ng missions,” added she. “But this time, I can say that the challenges we did were diverse. If you thought and expected to do a physical challenge, and did a workout the night before or the day before, but the following day, you would only be asked to eat. Nasayang yung workout, ayun yung talagang charm ng ‘Running Man (Philippines),’ hindi mo talaga alam kung ano ang mangyayari (Your workout went to waste, and that’s the charm of the show. You don’t know what’s going to happen).”

With that, the celebrity runners should stick to what the lines from the show’s theme song suggest.

“Go lang nang go. Kaya mo ito. Let’s rock and roll,” concluded Glaiza.
