Local eco-tourism
The Bicol Loco Festival has not only showcased the beauty and culture of the Bicol Region but has also highlighted its potential as a top tourist destination. With its stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality, Bicol is truly a gem waiting to be discovered.
One of the festival’s principal organizers, Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, deserves credit for his vision and dedication in bringing the event to life. Co’s efforts have not only put Bicol on the map but have also created opportunities for local tourism and economic growth.
The festival’s success can also be attributed to the support of other key figures, including Capt. Joy Roa of Air Safari, who helped bring the event to fruition. Co’s co-organizer, ensured that the festival was packed with exciting activities, including fireworks, aerobatics, drone shows, and even a race between a Porsche electric car and a piston-powered airplane.
As the festival came to a close, it was clear that Bicol Loco had left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of Bicolanos and tourists alike. With its successful debut, the festival has set the stage for future events that will continue to put Bicol on the world tourism map.
World tourism map
In the words of Rep. Zaldy Co, “Bicol Loco is intended to draw in more tourists that will, in turn, create more local jobs and opportunities. It has been my dream for over eight to ten years. Now it’s here…Tourists have complained that it’s very boring here. The hot-air balloon festival will excite everyone to the adventures of flying. In Cappadocia (in Turkey), they fly hot-air balloons every day, showing off their land features every day…I want to put Bicol on the world tourism map.”
