Iloilo City earns the most DOH ‘green scorecards’ in the region
The Department of Health (DOH) recently awarded Iloilo City 19 green scorecards out of a total 26, which are indicative of the city’s performance in implementing healthcare reforms, the most in the Western Visayas.
“The green scorecard means that you are
above the 2017 national average,” explained Iloilo City health officer, Dr. Bernard Caspe. “Achieving [a] green scorecard simply shows that whatever target that the DOH set, we achieved them.”
Among the sectors the city was recognized for included physician population and nurse population ratios,
blood donation rate, tuberculosis detection, access to safe water, primary care benefits, among others.
However, the city also received yellow scorecards, which mean data shows they are above the 2012 average but below the 2017 standard, and red scorecards, which puts the city below both measures.
Iloilo City scored yellow sin mid wife population ratio, provincial/city/municipal healthy expenditure, and drinking water sources in compliance with microbiological standards.
Among sectors picking up reds included fully immunized children, exclusive breastfeeding, maternity care package, and primary care benefit package utilization.
Caspe added, DOH gave them six months in terms of breastfeeding, noting, “The child should be purely breastfed without giving any water and it is hard not to give water.”
