New political development in EB Magalona

-

The political climate in EB Magalona has become interesting.

Former town mayor, Provincial Board Member David Lacson, recently filed his certificate of candidacy in hopes of a return to his old position. His past performance should serve as an advantage over incumbent Mayor Marvin Malacon. In any political exercise, candidates running unopposed are not a good thing. In a democratic society, it is better for the electorate to have choices.

The former mayor still has his machinery, along with a set of potential town councilors. Local residents should still remember him – three years is too short to forget a good leader. However, the incumbent has also had three years to gain support.

The town is known for blue crab, which is a major source of livelihood for local residents. As mayor, Lacson improved the industry, but I am not aware of its current state. Demand for crabs is constantly increasing worldwide and it is not too late to bring back such enhancements.

The planting of mangroves was also one of his concerns. EB Magalona has since become one of the largest areas for mangroves in the entire province. Protecting the environment is a major concern and they have the resources, manpower, and will to implement what is needed. The town’s success depends on who the locals elect – it is up to the town residents to choose who deserves their vote. It is only during elections when we are equal with the rich and famous. Don’t waste your vote and choose wisely.
