The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) has begun preparing for the holiday season.

NOPPO spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Aireen Cordua, said NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr. ordered town and city police chiefs to strictly implement checkpoints.

Cordua said the director also ordered station commanders to install police assistance desks at churches, especially during “Simbang Gabi” and when the “Aguinaldo Masses” begin on December 16.

She stated, the order was made following a command conference with Police Regional Office-6 superiors.

Station commanders and police chiefs are also required to stay at their posts and ensure personnel are working.

As part of the deployment, Cordua said police visibility will be intensified at shopping malls, parks, and other public places.

She added, last year, there were no big criminal events recorded during the holidays.
