Silay City mayor removes Go tarpaulins
Silay City Mayor Mark Golez ordered the removal of tarpaulins depicting former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go from the city’s Plaza Publika.
In a radio interview yesterday, the mayor said the removal was ordered because there was no application filed before the Office of the City Engineer.
Golez said the city’s Office of the Building Official (OBO) carried out the removal of the tarpaulins, which were installed by Go supporters and personnel last Thursday.
He added, the city’s OBO operated in accordance with City Ordinance No. 2 Series of 1997, which regulates any type of advertisement, such as signboards and billboards, which require a permit fee.
Golez also revealed Go’s personnel coordinated with their office and apologized, claiming they were unaware such an ordinance existed./
