NOPPO issues gun ban reminder
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) issued a reminder yesterday to inform the public of the nationwide election gun ban that takes effect Sunday morning.
Newly-appointed NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Romeo Baleros, said police in the province will conduct checkpoints as part of the Commission on Elections mandate
every election period.
Baleros warned anyone caught could
be charged with illegal possession of firearms, as well as violating the Comelecimposed gun ban.
During the ban, only uniformed law enforcement personnel and those with a Comelec ban exemption will be allowed to carry firearms.
