Lantern contest open to students

- By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga

Organizers of this year’s Bacolaodiat Festival are calling on students to join the Lighted Giant Pig Lantern Contest.

The contest is open to groups of high school students, college students, and those enrolled in TESDA-accredited vocational courses in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

In order to be eligible, school-based artists must have a recommendation from the principal or head of their respective institution. However, if the group decides not to carry the name of the school, all members must be verified students and will need certification from the school where group members are currently enrolled.

In addition, all members of a group must come from the same school.

All entries must have a minimum length of six feet and minimum height of six feet. While the base may be proportioned to desired specifications, it must have a minimum height of two feet.

Lanterns should be welllighted, weatherproof, and able to withstand extreme weather conditions.

P5,000 will be given to the first eight participants to submit completed registration and required attachments to the Bacoloadiat Festival Office on or before the January 19 deadline.
