Lo­cal mil­i­tary, po­lice units bag awards for hero­ism

A to­tal of 47 per­son­nel from the Philip­pine Army 62nd In­fantry Bat­tal­ion (62IB), 31st Di­vi­sion Re­con­nais­sance Com­pany, Tech­ni­cal Sup­port Com­pany, and Re­gional Mo­bile Force Bat­tal­ion-6 re­ceived Mil­i­tary Com­men­da­tion Medals, which were awarded by 303rd In­fantry Bri­gade (303IB) com­man­der, Bri­gadier

Gen­eral Bene­dict Arevalo, last Mon­day at the 62IB head­quar­ters in Is­abela.

The re­cip­i­ents were rec­og­nized for their re­cent ac­com­plish­ments that re­sulted in one en­emy com­bat­ant killed, along with one wounded, dur­ing a gun bat­tle with the New Peo­ples’ Army at Si­tio Can­lu­song in Is­abela’s Barangay Cansa­lon­gon. They were also awarded for an­other en­counter that led to the re­cov­ery of var­i­ous war ma­te­ri­als at Si­tio Tag­manok in Hi­ma­may­lan City’s Barangay Cara­dioan.

Arevalo com­mended the awardees for their “re­lent­less ef­fort” in hunt­ing down mem­bers of the ter­ror group and pre­vent­ing them from caus­ing harm to the com­mu­nity. “No­body be­lieves the re­cy­cled lies and pro­pa­ganda of this ter­ror­ist group, along with their le­gal front, who are now grad­u­ally be­ing un­masked [and re­veal­ing] their true con­nec­tion with ter­ror­ism,” he said.

The 303IB com­man­der also or­dered the 62IB to re­main vig­i­lant against the “de­struc­tive strat­egy” per­pe­trated by the in­sur­gents.
