Extra bonus for government employees to be revealed today

-

Negros Occidental provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, yesterday revealed the provincial government has amassed a total savings of P323 million from personnel services, which will fund an additional bonus for 3,197 regular and contractual government employees.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is expected to announce the amount during the workers' Christmas party, which takes place today at the SMX Convention Center as SM City Bacolod.

Following the announcement, the Provincial Board is set to hold a regular session tomorrow to approve authority to release the additional bonus.

Earlier, the Progressive Alliance of Capitol

Employees (PACE) sent letters seeking additional year-end bonuses for provincial government employees.

Last year, in addition to 14th-month pay, provincial government employees were granted P55,000 in bonuses, comprised of P50,000 in the form of cash incentive and P5,000 as the CNA bonus, along with an additional P30,000 in various bonuses.

“We are hoping it will be more than last year,” PACE Vice President Renelo Lastierre said. “The provincial government has funds for it.”

Meanwhile, Diaz revealed it will also be revealed if the P150 million allocation intended for repairs to the Panaad Stadium, which is expected to start next year, will be sourced from the said P323 million.

“That will all depend on the announcement of the governor,” the provincial official pointed out./DGB,
