Western Visayas logs 129 new Covid cases

One new death recorded in Bacolod city

The Department of Health-Center for Health Developmen­t (DOH-CHD) 6 on Saturday, August 1, reported 129 new cases of the coronaviru­s disease 2019, or Covid-19, and one death.

It was the highest number of cases confirmed in a single day for the region, according to the Regional Epidemiolo­gy and Surveillan­ce Unit of DOH-6.

The new patients brought the total cases in the region to 1,373.

Active cases now stand at 656 while the number of fatalities due to the disease rose to 19 following the death of a 75-year-old male patient from Bacolod City.

The patient was admitted to a hospital when he was confirmed positive for the disease on July 25.

Based on Bulletin No. 127 released by the DOH-CHD 6, recoveries are now at 698 with the 32 recorded treated patients.

The new cases were from the 1,090 laboratory results released by four laboratory centers in the region through the DOH-CHD 6.

Bacolod City has the highest Covid-19 confirmed cases with 74; Iloilo City has 24; Negros Occidental, 17; Iloilo province with six; Capiz with five new cases; and Guimaras with three.

Returning overseas Filipinos registered the highest positives with 72, locally stranded individual­s with 26, one was an authorized person outside of residence (APOR), and the rest are local cases.

One positive case, an APOR, was tagged to Taguig City.

Nine are home-quarantine­d, three are confined, and the rest are quarantine­d in a facility, the bulletin showed.

Meanwhile, the recoveries consist of 12 patients each from Iloilo and Negros Occidental, Bacolod City with five, one from Capiz, and two from Iloilo City.
