Miami stuns Brooklyn

Bam Adebayo converted a game-winner as Miami Heat pulled off a 109-107 escape over Brooklyn Nets in the 2020-2021 NBA Season on Sunday (Monday in the Philippine­s) at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

With the score tied at 107-all, Adebayo attacked the defense of Nets’ Jeff Green before pulling off a jumper from close range to complete the Heat’s come-from-behind win.

Adebayo finished the match with double-double 19 points and 16 rebounds, while Goran Dragić added 18 markers, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Heat improved to 29-28 win-loss slate.

Kendrick Nunn, Trevor Ariza and Duncan Robinson added 17, 15 and 11 markers, respective­ly, while Dewayne Dedmon had double-double 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat.

Down 101-107 with over three minutes left, the Heat leaned on baskets from Adebayo, Ariza and Dragić to force a deadlock at 107-all with 43 seconds left.

Brooklyn’s Kyrie Irving then flubbed his threepoint attempts on the other side that led to Adebayo completing the victory with a buzzerbeat­ing conversion.

Landry Shamet finished with career-high 30 points, including seven triples, Irving added 20 points and nine assists, while Joe Harris contribute­d 12 points for the Nets, which dropped to 38-19.

Brooklyn was decimated with another injury as Kevin Durant exited with just four minutes into the game with left thigh contusion. Also out for the Nets were James Harden and Tyler Johnson.

Meanwhile, Julius Randle tallied doubledoub­le 33 points and 10 rebounds as the New York Knicks (31-27) cruised to a 122-112 overtime victory against New Orleans Pelicans (25-32).

Trae Young had 34 points and 11 assists while Clint Capela added 25 points and 24 rebounds as Atlanta Hawks (31-26) prevailed over Indiana Pacers (2630), 129-117.
