CLMMRH head bucks proposal to ditch face shields
The hospital chief of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City has voiced out his opposition to the proposal of the national government to no longer require face shields.
CLMMRH head Dr. Julius Drilon explained that face shields have increased the protection rate for individuals.
He pointed out that by wearing face masks, individuals already have 90 percent protection, and by wearing face shields the protection rate increases to as much as 93 percent.
Meanwhile, based on new data released by CLMMRH Hospital Emergency Incident Command System, they are now forecasting at least 130 to 160 COVID-19 cases towards the end of June.
According to CLMMRH, the forecast is based on actual data to simulate the possible scenario in order that they will be aware and be prepared for further surge of cases.
Drilon explained the analysis enables the hospital management to strategically allocate its resources and manpower to areas that will be needing utmost attention.
“With an increasing Reproduction Number (Rt) as of June 13 in Bacolod, it reveals that there is an impending concern that the cases will continue to increase in the next few days unless drastic measures and stern actions will be applied,” he added.
Drilon further added that CLMMRH has nothing to gain from this pandemic and is not trying to gain anything from the people whom they are trying to serve wholeheartedly./DGB,
