Terrafirma ends PBA dryspell

- By Adrian Stewart Co

Terrafirma Dyip finally tasted a win after 25 games as it took down NLEX Road Warriors, 124114, in the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup yesterday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After failing to close out the Road Warriors in regulation despite leading by as much as 17 points, the Dyip showed their determination to end their PBA dryspell with a fiery start in the overtime.

Lester Prosper opened the extension with a jumper that was quickly answered by NLEX Earl Clark. Alex Cabagnot and Prosper then uncorked back-toback treys to surge the Dyip ahead 118-112.

The Road Warriors still tried to comeback after a basket by Clark but back-to-back inside conversions by Aklanon Andreas Cahilig stretched the Dyip’s lead to double-digits.

Prosper finished the game with a franchiserecord 50 points to go with 19 rebounds and five assists as the already eliminated Dyip notched its first win in 11 games.

Juan Miguel Tiongson added 18 markers, while Eric James Camson and Angelo Alolino chipped in 15 and 10 points, respectively, as Cabagnot had eight points and 10 boards for Terrafirma.

This was the Dyip’s first victory since defeating Blackwater Bossing last February in the 2021-2022 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Clark tallied 45 points and 18 rebounds, Celedonio Trollano had a career-high 26 points, while Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and Kris Rosaled had 22 and 12 as the Road Warriors dropped to 3-7.
