Road traffic in the city

-

It looks like the topic of mornings and late afternoons is the heavy load of motor vehicles along the main thoroughfares of Bacolod City.

As a founder of the Citizens Traffic and RoadWatch Group, here are things that we may share to our readers.

*** Normally, motorists will always shout out their rants and grumble on the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office or BTAO that is responsible for handling road traffic concerns. Looking at it, then BTAO is not to blame, but because there are just other things that may have been missed out to do if ever.

Motorists take the load of vehicle density on the road. If one will rush home and a thousand more would think the same, then all of them would be crowding the busy thoroughfares of Lacson, Araneta, Lopez Jaena, Burgos, and Circumferential Road, all at one given time.

While traffic authorities might opt to cut off the traffic lights and let the manual control be done by traffic enforcers, it is wiser to have traffic lights in operation. Traffic lights in some intersections, though, may be put off. On heavy road load hours, if traffic lights are distancing 500 meters or less from each other, one of them can be put off.

It is best to put off most of the traffic lights on Saturdays and Sundays in some selected areas. In Bacolod, steady function of traffic lights may be until 9:00 p.m. only.

In all fairness, today’s traffic enforcers in the city are performing better than in the past. Could it be that the present administration is more serious in delivering its services to the people? That is what most believed. And truly, there is a better extension of service by the present administration.

There are a lot of things to be done for the motorists and commuters to be happy with the situation on the road. Patience and understanding among all are the best factors in one’s outlook towards community development./
