To witness a magical wedding, complete with an abundance of flowers, a stunning bride and a breathtaking location, is one thing. To be able to capture and translate that very feeling into a photograph, is another experience. Every couple knows how important it is to be able to hold onto photos and memories of this very chapter in their lives, and it is this desire that has compelled Verse Studio to shift into a full-blown career. Formerly known as JLR Studios, as it was founded by J Lucas Reyes, Verse Studio prides itself not simply of capturing moments but of fully grasping the joy and wonderment of each portion of a wedding through their lens.

Now composed of seasoned photographers and a talented team— Brian Reyes, Paulo Magsaysay, Tim Medrano, Arbee Laberinto and Lucky Santos—they have produced classic, effortless and romantic shoots. “To us and our beloved couples, two things matter most on their special day: being effortlessly themselves with their loved ones, and being able to wonderfully relive the moments that matter. We are dedicated to capturing our clients at their best, usually in a light, easy environment. At the same time, we’re always on the lookout for captivating, memorable images that will stand the test of time. In a nutshell, Verse is all about clean, timeless photography and an enjoyable client experience”, says Brian.

As effortless as the couples’ joy and the light environment is however, is anything but for the team. Their creative process requires a thorough system and a eye that doesn’t fail to highlight every step of the wedding. “Our couples’ personal stories, preferred suppliers, and unique personalities serve as our focus and fuel to build a beautiful cohesive set of images relevant to their taste and theme. J [its founder] has long ingrained in the team to have an eye for story, details, and

relevance — and putting all those together results in a set of images that shows each of our client events’ unique appeal, personality, and style”, Brian shares.

More than their signature style of simplicity and cleanliness, their earnest effort to understand their clients’ story has granted them notable clients too. Verse Studio was tapped by celebrities Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro during their big day, it was an experience that serves as one of the team’s most memorable. It’s safe to say that the popular photos has made its fair round online, successfully capturing the rustic elegance, purest joy, and heartfelt story of the couple.

It’s their ability to be in tune with their couples, and pickup trends that has kept them their photos of relevance without losing its classic appeal. Although Brian admits that Verse Studio has a flair for traditional shoots as they exude elegance and timelessness, they haven’t failed to observe that many couples nowadays have opted for more candid and personal photos. Brian explains, “We love how personal and candid shoots are making waves right now. Much has indeed changed in shooting styles throughout the years — from the use of strobes to the popular use of natural light now, from stiff poses to candid movement, the limitless creativity out there is mind-blowing. Social Media has helped inspire much of the trends faster than ever before because of its immediate availability and worldwide reach. It helps couples, and sometimes even photographers, search and identify the style that truly works for them.”

If it would seem however, that social media has influenced the thought that just about anybody with a camera can pull off a shoot, Brian understands that their responsibility as wedding photographers is to add a layer of depth and story-telling in every occasion. “What makes wedding photographers different is basically the artistic perspective and the wedding experience. Perspective allows us to creatively think about the shots that needs to be made, quickly use the right lenses for the job, and thoughtfully composing, capturing the photo that highlights either the subject, emotion, or moment. Experience then allows us to do all these effortlessly in moment’s notice, or even ahead of time —fully anticipating successive, unique moments waiting to happen throughout the day.”

Their photographs are composed evidence of how Verse Studio has not only established itself as a brand, but has mastered the art of story telling. Not dictating a story, but understanding the effortless appeal of every moment of a wedding. Positioning themselves behind the lens, to capture every smile, angle every tearfully joyous member, and frame the wonderment that every wedding has to offer.
