One of the most celebrated weddings we’ve had this year was Moira Dela Torre’s. We loved her look because she really was a stunning bride and was glowing with happiness through and through. The master behind the look was Theresa Padin, one of Manila’s budding hair and makeup artists.

Ephesians 3:20. This is what you’ll see when you visit Theresa’s main Instagram account. Reading this, every bride who wants to look their best and feel great on their big day would know that they’ll be in good hands (and brushes). This Bible verse speaks of doing something more than what is expected and is reflective of how Theresa approaches her work as a makeup artist.

“I try to see what works and what would make the bride feel and look the most beautiful on their big day.”

Working with different brides, it is important for Theresa to understand the bride’s features and flaws, down to the tiniest detail of their faces.

“Women are created unique with features beautiful in their own ways,” she says. “What I do is try to see what to capitalize on and work from there. Usually, the same color palette would still create a different look depending on the bone structure, the shape of the nose, the eyes [and] the tone of the skin.”

Makeup trends have changed over the years with various looks and colors to experiment with, but for Theresa, the classic bridal look has stood the test of time and will remain superior.

“‘More transformed, the better’ is a goal I don’t go by,” she says. “I believe that the bride’s look should be her most natural. Makeup should celebrate how beautifully God created the bride. I always think about how they will be looking back ten years from now and see how good they look on pictures. They would want to recognize their younger faces and not see an unreal enhancement they didn’t even need.”

She believes in the classic “less is more” for bridal beauty, but this can be quite a challenge to achieve if the base is not properly well-taken care of.

“Please invest in skin care,” she insists. “Always moisturize your face. Great makeup starts with great skin. Make sure to drink lots of water. Hydrating from within creates a beaming glow that would be hard to notice.”

A lot of makeup artists will agree with her as the no-makeup look is really hard to pull off. So it pays to trust your artist when they say that “no amount of make-up can beat maintained skin.” With all these and more, Theresa will make sure that you’re a glowing bride on your best day.
