We met during our medical school days. Ronnie was my classmate and barkada. He eventually courted me but I was not one who would say yes to a long-distance relationship. His plan to migrate to Canada for his residency was the reason we opted to remain as friends.
Meanwhile, we both considered other relationships and tried to be happy apart. Although we were in constant communication as best friends. Until 6 years after, coincidentally, we ended our relationships with our partners for our own personal reasons. Then we found ourselves reconnected like it was all meant to happen that way.
We became closer as we both made time whenever Ronnie’s in town. During one of his short breaks here, I was admitted to the hospital for dengue. Ronnie rebooked his flight and stayed on and took care of me. That was the time I decided to take a chance on him. I thought the gesture was very assuring of how he genuinely feels for me.
So we became a couple. Ronnie proposed during a family trip to Korea and after 2 years, we got married. Ronnie knew how prayerful I am as a person so he gave me a rosary for his gift. I surprised him with a boudoir which we both would cherish forever.
Ronnie and I are simple individuals. We love to keep things neat and organized so we had the classic elegance of white and just a touch of blush for our motif.
More than the celebration of our union, we honoured our parents during the ceremony as we expressed our sincerest gratitude for the love and support they gave. My dad was there in spirit as a beautiful butterfly.
We never thought that things would turn out the way it is now. As the song goes: Love truly decides how things must be for Love is stronger far than we.
