A Promise Honored
PJ and I are 14 years apart and we never imagined our paths crossing each other. He already have his career going while I was in my teens studying. We met and he remained single while waiting for this very moment to come.
As loyal as PJ was my brother who promised to walk me down the aisle in behalf of my parents who were long gone even before my wedding plans started. As the only girl amongst five brothers, my brother held strong his promise to be with me on that special day. He did this after an unexpected stroke which incapacitated him for a while. Took his therapy seriously and courageously way pass the obstacles and physical difficulties that went along with recuperation. I am so honoured with the great outpouring of love as he graciously fulfilled his promised walk.
Three days before the wedding, we were already in Tagaytay for the preparation and photo shoots.
The weather was threatening rain and my fervent prayer was just to have the sun up on my wedding day. PJ reminded me not to worry about a thing. “Tapat and Diyos sa kanyang pangako. We asked for good weather and ibibigay niya sa atin yon.” My faith was shaken but God made true his promise. We had fine weather from start to the end of the ceremony.
Blue and white were the colors for the occasion.
These are the colors which fittingly represent our personalities – so chill, so pure. Also, they are the colors of the sea and the sky we both feel good about. PJ and I never missed out on the outdoors – the beaches and the greens were always part of our life together. Antonio’s was our best choice because it brings back the growing-up years in the cool air of the countryside.
Fireworks were banned in Davao City for a long while so PJ and I had to put it in our program. Our first dance to the music of “You” by The Carpenters was the cue for the 3-minute fireworks display. Oh how we enjoyed that part like children wowed by the grand colors of lights.
Like the children that we are, our prenup photos and videos captured our playfulness as a couple. We both grew up at a time when kids still enjoy the street games of habulan and tagu-taguan and the photos were pretty good snap shots of that time.
Our wedding cake by Bethany Dream Cake has the verse 1Peter4:8 written on its first layer. That was the very verse that encapsulates the love we have for each other. Simple yet full of honor. Can’t imagine it to be any other way.
