Angelu de Leon and Bobby Andrews were the AlDub of the 1990s, when they starred in T.G.I.S.
(Thank God It’s Sabado), a youth‑ oriented drama series aired on GMA‑7 from 1995 to 1999.
Fans of Bobby and Angelu followed the love story of Wacks and Peachy for four years—and frowned when the two did not end up together in real life.
Though their fans have since moved on, they still longed from time to time for a Bobby‑Angelu reunion project. Their longings were satisfied a few times, via
Teen Gen in 2012 and Buena Familia in 2015. This year, Bobby and Angelu are together again in a TV project, Mulawin vs. Ravena ( MVR), a fantasy series where they both play mortals.
But Angelu is quick to say that this isn’t exactly a reunion project for them: “Wala pa kaming scene together, e. Hindi ko alam kung magkakaro’n. But if ever, that’s really something to look forward to.”
Interestingly, Angelu’s former flame, Joko Diaz, the father of her
panganay Nicole (now 18), is also in the cast of MVR. Angelu says she has no problem working with Joko: “Kasi, ever since naman, we’re civil. And siguro kasi, past is past. Sabi ko nga, forgiven and forgotten. ’Yon na ’yon, e. Doon ko nga na‑realize na maliit ang showbiz talaga!”
