YES! (Philippines) - - Celebrity Birthday -

Twenty days after Kaye Abad and Paul Jake Castillo announced at a party that they were going to have a baby boy, the couple hosted a baby shower, also organized by the Aprica brand of baby strollers.

Just like the gender-reveal party, the baby shower was held in Cebu City, where the actress has been based since she settled down with her Cebuano husband a year ago.

“As you know, I only have a few friends and family ni Paul Jake here, so thank you to everyone,” Kaye told the guests during the baby shower program.

Nodding, Paul Jake added: “As she said, she only has a few friends, so thank you so much for coming. Thank you for spending your Sunday afternoon with us on this special day.”

Kaye later told reporters that a month before her date with the stork, scheduled to take place in late December, she would fly to Manila to await the arrival of their first child. The mom-to-be also admitted to having mixed feelings about experiencing childbirth for the first time.

“Excited ako, at the same time natatakot ako,” she said. “Dati, nanonood ako ng mga nanganganak. Pero no’ng buntis ako, ’tinigil ko, kasi natatakot ako. You will never know what can happen. But I always pray na normal and no complications. Sana okey lahat.” Paul Jake, who apparently enjoys teasing his wife, interjected: “Sa dinami-dami nang nabuntis, kinaya. Ikaw, di mo kaya? Magcesarean ka kung di mo kakayanin.” Kaye, also in a bantering mood, related that Paul Jake had already decided not to join her in the delivery room to cut their forthcoming baby’s umbilical cord, as some husbands do for their wives. Instead, he would just wait in the recovery room. “Sana nagdoktor ako kung gusto ko i-cut ’yan,” he pointed out, chuckling.

baby shower marco polo plaza, cebu cITy ocTober 29, 2017 Paul Jake and Kaye, clearly a lovely and in-love couple, watched the baby shower program from the sidelines. The two first met on the set of the daytime soap Alyna, which aired on ABS-CBN from September 2010 to February 2011. They became instant friends, and would later hang out with their other friends and some family members.

But as far as Kaye can remember, there was initially no sexual attraction between them. She even tried to hook him up with her girl friends, who in the end would tell her: “Alam mo, bagay kayong dalawa. Parang mas magkasundo kayo.”

In early 2014, the actor-entrepreneur went to Europe for a perfume-making seminar. He continued to communicate with her, every day, through the phone app FaceTime. She then thought to herself: “Bakit parang nami-miss ko siya? Hindi naman ganito. Baka nasanay lang ako na lagi kaming magkausap.”

When Paul Jake came home, Kaye knew things between them would never be the same again. They went from friends to boyfriendgirlfriend on April 14, 2014.

The couple showed both their childlike and competitive sides when they played a few rounds of the kiddie game Jak en Poy, which is also called Bato, Bato, Pik. Whenever Paul Jake scored against his wife, Kaye would teasingly slap her husband—to the amusement of the people watching them at the event venue.

When YES! took a video of the couple’s game and posted it on Facebook and Instagram, our followers were similarly entertained. At this writing, that video has been viewed over 472,000 times on our Facebook page and nearly 70,000 times on our Instagram account.

On her Instagram account, Kaye described the gender-reveal party held in Cebu City as a “fun afternoon with family and friends.”

Those family members and friends included Paul Jake’s brothers Myti and Paulo and sisters Erica and Chin-Chin; the siblings’ cousin Billy Boy Wong; Paul Jake’s best buddy Tonyson Lee; Myti’s wife Aisha; Chin-Chin’s boyfriend Mikee Tan; and Darleen Hopkirk, the girlfriend of Paul Jake’s younger brother Paulo.

Kaye’s own set of family and friends are based in Cavite, her hometown, and Manila, her place of work as an actress. They were all unable to attend the event in Cebu.
