PIPAY MOMENT

YES! (Philippines) - - Stargazing -

Despite the holiday traffic jam last December, friends of singer-businesswoman Pops Fernandez braved the jampacked roads to Makati to celebrate the 51st birthday of the country’s Concert Queen.

In her short but emotional speech that night, Pipay—as her friends lovingly call Pops—made special mention of her estranged husband Martin Nievera. An excerpt from her speech goes: “I still thank God for Martin… because… thank God we’re still friends and I learned so much from that experience… I’m crying because, the past two few years, siyempre madaming pinagdadaaan.

“But you know, the best part of it is, I have family that I truly love… and I have so many friends who I can really call friends, di ba? Bibihira lang talaga yong… Kasi marami tayong nami-meet sa buhay natin, tinatawag nating friends…

“And, you all know this, almost for the past how many years, kayo-kayo lang naman nai-invite ko, di ba? It’s the same faces that you see because you guys are very special to me. So maraming-maraming salamat.”

Pops’s yearly intimate celebration wouldn’t have been complete without the loves of her life, sons Ram (left) and Robin (right).
