Jasmine Curtis-Smith and her boyfriend Jeff Ortega celebrated Valentine’s Day a few days early, in time for their second anniversary as a couple, with a weekend getaway last February at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila hotel in Pasay City.
The couple began their twin celebration with a crash course in cocktail making. “You know how in the movies you see people at the bar chatting with the bartender?” Jasmine wrote in her Instagram post on February 9, reproduced here with minor edits. “Yesterday, @jeffortega and I got to learn about our taste in cocktails, and I got to mix my own, too. And towards the end of the drink, Mark (our lovely bartender with extensive knowledge of his craft), was my favorite kachikahan. Sorry, Jeff. Haha!”
After taking their aperitif, the actress, who turns 24 on April 6, and the entrepreneur, who turned 28 last March 19, were treated to a five-course meal that was especially prepared by the hotel’s chef. They then had a “beautiful sunset dinner,” as described by Jeff in his Instagram post, also on February 9.
Jasmine and Jeff capped their date with a “sweet escape”—which means, according to him, getting “lathered with chocolate at the spa.” It was more of having a body scrub using cacao beans and ending the session with a massage, she said. Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Jeff Ortega first met late in 2015, when the actress had a short vacation in the famed surfing area of La Union province. Jeff, a La Union native who surfs, teaches surfing, and runs an annual music festival, knew Jasmine’s older sister Anne Curtis through Anne’s friends, who happened to be his distant cousins. Jasmine and Jeff became fast friends. On Jasmine’s next visit to La Union a few months later, Jeff told her he wanted her to be his girlfriend—and that’s exactly what she wanted, too.
