Contessa Stars at Summit

YES! (Philippines) - - In this issue -

Two days after the drama series Contessa debuted on the Afternoon Prime block of GMA last March 19, three of its cast members—(L-R) Phytos Ramirez, Glaiza de Castro, and Jak Roberto—visited the Summit Media offices for interviews with YES! and our online affiliate,

In their interview conducted via Facebook Live, a feature on the social networking website that gives livestreaming video capabilities to users, the Contessa stars thanked those who watched their show’s first episodes. They also talked about their roles and their working relationship, which, judging by the way they teased each other and laughed together, is beyond cordial.

Glaiza plays the lead character of Bea, who, after being sent to prison for a crime she didn’t commit, reinvents herself as Contessa, thirsty for revenge and redemption. Jak plays Jong, Bea’s loyal best friend and secret admirer. Phytos is Winston, the right-hand man of the main bad guy, Vito, played by Gabby Eigenmann.

The Contessa title roler, who has taken on strong characters in the past, including Pirena in Encantadia, said of her role in the new series: “Isa siyang surprise para sa akin. Hindi ko ini-expect na mabibigyan ako ulit ng opportunity to tell another empowered story.”

Phytos, whose last teleserye role was also in Encantadia, as the goodnatured Pao-Pao, said that he considers his latest assignment as “isang malaking challenge.”

As for Jak, he admitted that, in real life, he is just like his character— protective of women. “Dapat ang girls, pinoprotektahan,” he pointed out. “Hindi sinasaktan, hindi dapat pinapaasa.”

Contessa airs from Monday to Saturday, after Eat Bulaga!
