Winter 2020 in the Algarve
As we go to print with this edition, the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is upon us. One dilemma we were faced with when planning this edition and then when finalising it was; should we update and publish our restaurant guide and will restaurants remain open this winter? Our restaurant guide, running from page 100 to 110, is one of the very few independent and honest guides to dining out in this region, as we do not take payment from the restaurants we feature and we include only those that we wish to include and recommend to our readers. This year has been particularly difficult for the restaurant business and we needed to know if they planned to stay open, so our team contacted each and every one of them. Those that remain in our guide were all, at the time of press, planning to stay open and we hope that they will not be forced to shut down either by government regulations or for financial reasons. We salute them for their resilience and unfailing desire to carry on serving their customers. In this edition we take a close look at the property market, a sector of our local economy that has so far stood up particularly well in the face of the pandemic and, at a time when people are spending more and more time at home, we examine the latest trends in automated home comforts and domotics.
Na altura em que a revista seguia para impressão, estava em curso a segunda vaga da pandemia da Covid-19. Um dilema que enfrentámos quando planeámos esta edição e à medida que a finalizávamos foi se deveríamos atualizar e publicar o nosso guia de restaurantes e se estes permaneceriam abertos este inverno. O nosso guia de restaurantes, entre as páginas 100 e 110, é um dos poucos guias independentes e honestos de restaurantes na região, uma vez que não aceitamos pagamentos dos estabelecimentos que apresentamos e destacamos apenas aqueles que desejamos incluir e recomendar aos nossos leitores. Este ano tem sido particularmente difícil para o setor da restauração e precisávamos de saber se planeavam ficar abertos, pelo que a nossa equipa contactou cada um deles. Aqueles que permanecem no nosso guia estavam todos, na altura da impressão, a planear permanecer abertos e esperamos que não sejam forçados a fechar, quer seja por regulamentos governamentais ou por razões financeiras. Saudamo-los pela sua resiliência e vontade infalível de continuar a servir os seus clientes.
Nesta edição analisamos ainda o mercado imobiliário, um setor da nossa economia local que, até agora, se tem mantido particularmente forte face à pandemia e, numa altura em que as pessoas passam cada vez mais tempo em casa, examinamos as últimas tendências em termos de conforto doméstico automatizado e domótica.
