Photography under the spotlight

The illustrated postcards of Madeiran publisher Bazar do Povo are now the object of a book, edited by the Regional Directorate of the Madeira Archive and Library. The work collects around 60 images from the period between 1883 and 1951. The postcards are an opportunity to see Madeira of other times and also serve to understand the historical importance of the illustrated postcards, since the last quarter of the 19th century.

The Regional Directorate of the Madeira Archives and Library also published another book of black and white photography. It is the work Imagens e Memória do Concelho de Machico (Images and Memory of the Municipality of Machico), which gathers a collection from the period between 1870 and 1970. Both books can be acquired at the Regional Archive and Public Library of Madeira.

Os bilhetes-postais ilustrados do editor madeirense Bazar do Povo são agora objetivo de um livro, editado pela Direção Regional do Arquivo e Biblioteca da Madeira. A obra reúne cerca de 60 imagens do período entre 1883 e 1951. Os postais são uma oportunidade para ver a Madeira de outros tempos e servem também para perceber a importância histórica dos postais ilustrados, desde o último quartel do século XIX.

A Direção Regional do Arquivo e Biblioteca da Madeira editou ainda outro livro de fotografia a preto e branco.Trata-se da obra Imagens e Memória do Concelho de Machico, que reúne um espólio do período entre 1870 e 1970. Os dois livros podem ser adquiridos no Arquivo Regional e Biblioteca Pública da Madeira.
