Calheta is the main stage for the Town Hall's activities, with decorations alluding to the Flower Festival, in a rich programme that counts on the effusive participation of the people of Calheta.
It is undoubtedly with great fervour that the municipality is experiencing this season, when residents transform Calheta in general, and their homes in particular, into an authentic enchanted garden, an idyllic setting that will be the motto for a photographic exhibition that will be on display for many weeks in Praceta 24 de Junho.
Hundreds of people from Calheta are taking part in this photographic exhibition, which shows the commitment, care and love put into the plants that adorn not only their homes but also the spirit of those who dedicate themselves to gardening. The exhibition "Calheta a Florir" is a testimony to the attention paid to gardens, a hobby for some and a genuine therapy for others. What is certain is that there are more and more enthusiasts taking part in this initiative and there is no person who wants their garden to be inferior to that of their neighbour.

São centenas de calhetenses que participam nesta mostra fotográfica, que dá a conhecer o empenho, o cuidado e o amor colocado nas plantas, que adornam não só as casas mas também o espírito de quem se dedica à jardinagem. A exposição “Calheta a Florir” é o testemunho da atenção aos jardins, um passatempo para uns e uma autêntica terapia para outros. O certo é que há cada vez mais entusiastas a fazerem parte desta iniciativa e não há um calhetense que queira ter o seu jardim inferior ao do vizinho.

Esta iniciativa, além de ser um gesto simbólico que apela à edificação de um mundo de paz, é, ainda, uma tomada de consciência ambiental para a redução da pegada ecológica e para a valorização, bem como para a promoção de espaços verdes.
No fundo, a proposta é visitar um concelho verdejante que se transforma num verdadeiro Óasis Tropical, em especial a Praceta 24 de Junho, que estará vestida a rigor com uma impressionante moldura floral.
