QUEEN CATARINA’S TEA

REFINED AND ELEGANT

-

With the advent of Winter, nothing is more comforting than a good and aromatic cup of tea. It is a whole ritual that accompanies this time of year and transports us to the customs of another era. Queen Catarina’s Tea is a special blend that combines the unique flavor of Pu-erh tea (known as the emperors tea) with the characteristic flavor of Portugal's oranges and the aroma of cinnamon, a symbolical reference to Portuguese discoveries.

Queen Catarina’s Tea is an exquisite and peculiar tea conceived in honor of the birth date of D. Catarina de Bragança, the Portuguese Queen who introduced the habit of drinking tea in England and spread it on the Empire. And tasting it is a whole experience of comfort and wellbeing. Its aroma is soft and we can feel its lightness at every tasting. And the case is not for less: a cup of tea is much more than a simple liquid, it is a unique drink that awakens our senses, stimulates the mind, boosts creativity, favors social relationships and favors self-care, our health, our peace of mind.

Queen Catarina's Tea is created in Portugal and each special presentation box brings together two cans of Rainha tea - each with 20 sachets inserted in a protective pouch to maintain the aroma and a 125gr individual Orange Marmalade jar, from Quinta de Jugais, whose passion for the flavors of Serra da Estrela has promoted the desire of bringing to us the charm of this region through its traditional products.

And among the countless curiosities about the life of D. Catarina de Bragança, we highlight the fact that the young queen, accustomed to drinking tea in her country of origin, implemented this habit at a reception to the Duchess of York at Hampton Court, a gesture much appreciated by the English who also adopted it and which is currently named as the famous “5 o'clock tea”.

In addition to this habit, D. Catarina used to receive oranges from Vila Viçosa, sent by her mother, with whom she used to prepare a jam to accompany her tea and as the story tells she made a sweet orange jam that she shared with her friends and reserved the jam. of bitter orange for concubines and lovers of the King. And this orange jam has become the famous “marmalade” we know today.

If the aroma is the set of perfumes that emanate from each cup, our body becomes the recipient of its taste and texture. Each aroma of Queen Catarina’s Tea acts on our memory, leading it to relive the past and to provide, in the present, moments of tranquility and of sweet fellowship.
