LET’S TALK ABOUT PUTTING

A well executed putt requires the knowledge and control of various techniques that have to be applied to keep the card from getting too “heavy” at the end of the round. Besides the correct reading of the green, the adjustment of the putt speed and, of course, concentration, there is an element that is very frequently forgotten: confidence. This actually applies to all golf strokes, but it is especially important on the green when one is putting. Here, the difference between success and failure is so obvious, and there are no free second tries. The player has to be confident they are capable of making the putt, or there will be precious strokes wasted. To build up the necessary confidence before every round, spend some time warming up on the putting green. Don’t forget that regardless of how good your swing is, and how perfect your approach shot is, in golf it all comes down to one thing: putting the ball into the hole!

Good practicing. O putt, para ser bem executado, requer o conhecimento e o domínio de várias técnicas que, no green devem ser aplicadas para que no final da volta o cartão não esteja tão ‘pesado’. Além da correcta leitura do green, da avaliação da velocidade do putt e, claro, da concentração, há um elemento fundamental, muitas vezes esquecido: a confiança. Esta palavra aplica-se a todas as pancadas de golfe, mas reverte-se de especial importância no green quando estamos a pattar. Aqui, a diferença entre o êxito e o falhanço é demasiado óbvia e não há mais tentativas naquele buraco. O jogador deve estar confiante na sua capacidade de execução do putt, caso contrário, será uma perda de preciosas pancadas. Para construir a confiança necessária antes de cada jogo, dedique algum tempo do aquecimento no putting green. Não se esqueça. Por melhor que seja o seu swing. Por mais perfeito que seja a sua aproximação, o golfe resume-se a uma coisa: meter a bola no buraco.
